It’s been 20 years since we tragically lost our beautiful nephew Steffen. He was only 18 when he died in a car accident. He was a talented musician and in a great theater group at the time that was raising money for Children’s hospital in Oakland. His theater teacher, Leslie Noel Hansen is putting on this Beatles tribute concert for him on the 20th anniversary of his passing. She’s asked us to participate. She and her students and some of Steffen’s close friends and bandmates will all be singing to celebrate Steffen’s life. This is coming right up on August 15th at 7pm in Lafayette where Steffen grew up and had just graduated from high school shortly before his life was suddenly cut short. He loved the Beatles and had sung “With a Little Help From My Friends” at his graduation.

We finally finished a new album! It’s called “Different ’round Here – Camp Rose Sessions”

This recording project was started a long time ago with Darryl Webb in his studio at Camp Rose in Healdsburg. We got sidetracked by a few other things and dropped the ball on finishing it for way too long. We had planned to have our dear friends Ted Dutcher and Susan Ballinger add tracks to it, but unfortunately time got away from us…Darryl has gotten a full time teaching job and is closing his studio, but he kindly offered to spend last week with us finishing our album! So we had to keep it simple and just make it a duo CD. We finally went back and completed recordings of 16 of our home made songs. Our son Ian has been helping us get the CD cover design done and ready to send everything off for duplication. He also helped us get it all on Bandcamp where it is available for download. Yay!!!

On Friday July 10th we’ll be back on KRCB 104.9 FM with Doug Jayne at 1:30 pm! We’re excited to get a chance to promote and play a few songs off our new album! If you want to listen you can tune in online at KRCB.org Friday July 10th at 1:30pm.

On Thursday July 16th, we’ll be playing at the Blue Water Lounge in Bodega Bay from 4pm until 7pm. This is a great venue with delicious food and an amazing view of Bodega Bay. We’re happy to have been invited back for a third time and hope to see a bunch of our friends there again!

We’ve continued playing regularly at care facilities a few times a week, which we’ve been doing for many years. This is our main job now that we’re on Social Security! We always get a nice response and it feels good to be able to get folks dancing in their chairs or with walkers and singing along.

We had a great time there with an enthusiastic audience at the end of January and look forward to playing there again!

If you need something to distract you from the sadness and madness, music is what keeps us going. It seems to be really good medicine!

We’re delighted to have been asked to play again at the Bluewater Lounge in beautiful Bodega Bay on Thursday, January 29th, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm.
We’re still playing regularly at retirement homes and elder care facilities but really looking forward to playing at a public venue again. We’ll play as a duo and hope to see some of our friends there!

Below is the poster our friend Jonah Pelter put together last year when he hired us to play. We knew him when he was a kid in Calistoga and now he books the music for the Blue Water Lounge! He chose the photo off our website from when we were playing for a customer appreciate event many years ago at Cal Mart in our home town!

It’s been way too long since we’ve even looked at our website…and we doubt anyone else is looking at it either! Still, just in case anyone is checking, I’d like to post our first public gig we’ve had in many moons, which is coming up this weekend. We still enjoy playing regularly in memory care and assisted living places every week but they aren’t open to the pubic so I never post those gigs.

This coming Saturday though, on November 22nd, 2025, we’ve been asked to play the Calistoga Farmer’s Market again after taking a long break from playing there. We’ll be there (if it’s not raining) from 9am to 1pm. We’re looking forward to seeing old friends there and reconnecting with our Calistoga community.

Then in January we’ve been invited back to the Blue Water Lounge in Bodega Bay! Last January we had a great time playing there.

We’re looking forward to being there again on January 29th 2026 from 4pm to 7pm. We hope to see some of our friends there again!

It’s been a long time since we’ve played a public venue, and the first time we’ve gotten to share a stage with our friends, great local singer-songwriters Robin Factor and John Strider. They kindly asked us to join them for a singer-songwriters in the round concert at The Lost Church in Santa Rosa! We’re really looking forward to this and hope to see a lot of our friends there, on lucky Friday the 13th of September.
Doors at 7:30pm. Show from 8:15-10:30pm with one intermission

We’re excited to have been asked to provide some afternoon music for this family friendly gathering, and honored to be the opening act for some of our musical heroes! We’ve loved seeing/hearing Mamuse and the Fula Brothers perform at festivals. They’ve joined up as FulaMuse and they’ll get us all dancing!

We’ll be playing outside at 4pm before their concert in the main hall at 7pm. We hope to have our favorite bass player, great harmony singer and dear friend Ted Dutcher joining us!

This will be the first time since last year that we’ve played for an event that is open to the general public and we’re really looking forward to it!

Meanwhile, we’ve been keeping really busy with regular elder care home gigs, a few weddings, parties and memorial services. Also working hard on trying to be as prepared as we can for another fire season.

At the end of February, we got snowed in with almost a foot of snow for the first time here! We lost many of our beloved trees that had been partially burned but had somehow survived the Glass fire in 2020. They couldn’t handle the weight of the snow though, so we’re still trying to clean up the broken and fallen trees on all sides. We’re so grateful to still be able to live here though! This Spring has been amazing with more abundant flowers blooming here than usual.

We’re trying to get back in the studio to finish recording the demos we were working on last fall. We’re hoping to have some new recordings to share soon.

Thanks to our dear friend Robin Latham, on November 20th we’re looking forward to providing background instrumental music for this great fundraiser where we’ll be playing at the VIP meet and greet with Isabel Allende and Michael Krasny and then we get to stay and enjoy their conversation at the main event later!

We haven’t posted anything on our website in quite some time but we’re still playing care facilities several times a week. We’ve also recently, sadly, played a couple of memorial services and then a joyful wedding as well.

We’ve also been really happy to be doing a bit of recording again with Darryl Webb who was our recording engineer at the Banquet Studios way back in 2003. Now he has his own really nice little studio where we’ve been enjoying working with him when we’re able to find time!

Life is never dull and we’re doing our best to stay healthy and happy in these weird uncertain times! We sure hope you are too!

Last month we got to spend 5 days at the last Kate Wolf Festival which was such a blast! We were on the Revival tent crew again for what may be the last time after many years. We were happy to see so many friends again and share meals and music and dips in the creek which was surprisingly clean and flowing. There was way more music scheduled than we could possibly fit into our days, but we especially enjoyed Tim O’Brien a couple times. Also AJ Lee and Blue Summit are some of our new favorites! We got to see Hot Tuna Acoustic, Don Henry with Tom Paxton, John Craigie, Keith Greeninger with Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald and Nina Gerber. Chris Webster, Laurie Lewis, Ruth Moody and Lucy Kaplansky as well as many other inspiring musicians and great performances.

Next week we’re looking forward to the Redwood Ramble where we’ll also be on a crew so get to be there camping and jamming with friends from Wednesday until Monday.

We’re continuing to play at retirement homes regularly and have played for 5 groups since we got home from Kate fest and have 3 more lined up before the Ramble next week. Life is good and we’re just hoping to continue avoiding Covid while out playing and enjoying so much music this summer.
