Last minute gigs

Greetings,
How can it already be the end of November? Time is racing by. We’re relieved that the election is over and happy that Barack Obama will be our new President! We have high hopes!

We’ve had the opportunity to play some really nice gigs this year. Last month we were asked to play with our friends at a memorial service for Olga Kolbeck who owned the Old Faithful Geyser in Calistoga for many years. She passed away just before her 93rd birthday. She wanted more of a party than a memorial service. We were able to get the whole band including our favorite fiddler Terry Ann Gillette to come and play at the Geyser for a couple of hours. It was a beautiful setting and a wonderful celebration of Olga’s life. People even danced, which Olga would have loved.

We’ve just been asked at the very last minute to play for the Mountain Volunteer Fire Department’s party at Mountain Home Ranch, in Calistoga, from 2:00 to 6:00pm Sunday Nov. 30th. They recently got a new Fire Chief and a bunch of new volunteers and have reason to celebrate! The community is welcome to come to this potluck party. For more info call Suzanne or John Fouts at Mountain Home Ranch 942-6616.

On December 5th we’ll be joining our drummer friend David Chapman, who will be playing with his band, The David Chapman Band, at a free family dance put on by the Chamber Of Commerce at the Calistoga Elementary School from 7:00 to 9:00pm. We’ll be playing a few songs with his band, when we’re not dancing!
Hope to see you there.

We hope you’re all well and had a nice Thanksgiving. Enjoy the rest of the season!

Peace, Lindalou and Michael

It’s great to know at least a few people all over the world are enjoying our songs!

One More this month!

Hi folks,
We don’t usually send music news twice in one month, but we’ve been asked to play at an event in Fairfax and just wanted to invite any of you who might be in Marin this coming Sunday morning, September 28th.

Come Celebrate Public Art!
The Peace Center of Marin is having a dedication of the Seeds of Peace Mural at the Good Earth, 1966 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Fairfax.
This is a beautiful mural that the Peace Center has finally completed.
We’ll be playing music with our friends Christopher Smith and Duncan Draper from around 9:30am.
The dedication starts at 10:30 and we’ll be playing before and after that on and off until noon or so. We hope to see some of you there!

We also have several dates coming up in October which we’ll post on the 1st.

Best, Lindalou and Michael

Music news

Hello out there,
It’s hard to believe it’s September already! Our summer has been like a roller coaster ride of changes and challenges… some good, some bad, some extremely sad, and we just hope all of you who receive this are well and happy and enjoying life!

I know all our lives are full and this is very short notice, but we just got a call asking us to play at the Calistoga Farmer’s Market tomorrow morning. They had a cancellation and called us, even though we’re already scheduled to play there next weekend.

So just in case you’re near by… (We don’t know about you, but music is what gets us through!)
Here are the upcoming dates:

Saturday, September 6th, 9am to noon
Calistoga Farmer’s Market
Downtown Calistoga on Washington Street

Also on Saturday, Sept 6th, at 8pm.
We’ll play a few songs at the Ketchup Festival.
This is a take-off on the annual Napa Valley Mustard Festival.
It’s actually a benefit for the annual Calistoga Relay for Life, raising money for the American Cancer Society. It’s sort of an open mic but you sign up in advance and pay to perform! Our friend Nick Triglia has organized a great line up and raised extra money several years in a row for his Relay team. This takes place at the Calistoga Roastery on Lincoln Avenue from 5pm to 10pm.  It’s great fun.

On Saturday, Sept. 13th, 9am to noon again
Calistoga Farmer’s Market
Our extremely talented friend Duncan Draper has been showing up and playing Standup Bass (and occasionally accordion…)  with our (also lovely and talented) friends Dan Brunetti on guitar and David Chapman on drums. We had a great response last month when we all played together at the Farmer’s Market. We called our band “Lindalou and Michael and the 3 D’s.”

Later that same day– Sept 13th
Calistoga High School on Lake Street
We’ll play the Relay For Life event which will have a wide variety of music throughout the day and into the evening. We’ll be there with The 3 D’s entertaining folks as they walk the track, sharing the task with their teammates for 24 hours, to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.

Hope to see you soon!

Peace,
Lindalou and Michael

Farmer’s Markets

Dear friends,

We hope you’re all safe from fires and smoke. It’s been pretty smoky here in Calistoga and dreadfully hot this past week, but we’re all well here so far! We send our heartfelt thoughts to all who have been affected by these devastating fires lately. We’ve been working really hard the past 2 weeks to make our home in the dense woods more fire safe. It’s an endless job but it’s starting to look park like around here. Napa County/CDF has come up to chip huge brush piles for us 3 times already. What a great service they provide for free!

This is very short notice and many of you are way too far away to come anyway, but just in case you’re near Calistoga tomorrow morning… we’re playing the Calistoga Farmer’s Market again and have a couple of other dates coming up as well.

Saturday, July 12th 9am to noon
On Washington Street by the Community Center.
We’ll be accompanied by our friends Dan Brunetti and David Chapman

Sunday, July 27th, 10am to 1pm
Windsor Farmer’s Market
Downtown Windsor off Hwy 101
We’ll be playing as a duo this time.

On Saturday, August 9th, 9am to noon
At the Calistoga Farmer’s Market again.
with Danny and David making it even more fun!

Best to all of you,
Lindalou and Michael

It’s almost Spring!

Greetings!

It’s been awhile since we’ve been playing in public much, although we did today in the Calistoga Visitor Center. This wasn’t planned, but we were volunteering to help out with the local Jazz Festival and though we’re not jazz musicians, people kept encouraging us to play, and we just happened to have our instruments in the car, so…

We’re happy to have been asked to play a few gigs recently. We have until April to practice up for the first one. We don’t have all the details yet, but we thought we should at least get the dates out there since some of you have been asking when we’re playing again. We’ll fill in the details as the dates get closer.

October 21st We’ll be playing at a Memorial Celebration of a dear friend we sadly said goodbye to recently. Some of you may have had the good fortune to know Diane Bodach,
a beautiful poet and singer, who finally left us last week after a long struggle with cancer. She wanted her memorial to be a big party filled with music and joy, and she requested certain songs she wanted us and several other friends to sing. She’ll be missed by many. If you’d like to join us in celebrating Diane’s life, here is a link to the invitation.

October 27th Calistoga Farmer’s Market again, Same time as on the 13th …same place, same musicians.

Hope all of you are well and enjoying life.
Yours in harmony,
Lindalou and Michael
