We played at the Elizabeth Spencer event yesterday with Terry Ann. Had a great time and they fed us delicious food, paid us well and gave us 2 cases of their excellent wine again! What a nice way to celebrate our anniversary the past 4 years! They said they’d like to have us back again next year.

Today is our 34th wedding anniversary (41 years together (tomorrow) and still in love!) We feel so grateful!

Next weekend we’ll play 2 gigs and then we have some private gigs as well as other farmer’s markets coming up.

Saturday, May 3rd, 9am to noon~
We’ll play the Calistoga Farmer’s Market with our good friend Dan Brunetti. We love playing in the shade of the redwood trees in our home town. Later that day we’ve been invited to play again at an annual St. Helena Road neighborhood event called the “Hike and Hoot.”

The following weekend on my birthday, May 10th, we’ll be playing a memorial celebration for an old friend in Novato. Then the next day we’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day with my family and will play for my dear old Mom and get her singing along.

Over Memorial Day weekend we look forward to camping out a few nights at our friend’s music party which was planned to make up for the Strawberry Festival not happening again this Spring, due to complications from the Rim fire as well as red tape with renewing the contract with the City of San Francisco who owns Camp Mather where the festival takes place. If you read this and have any interest in seeing the festival continue please read this message and write letters to help save the festival! Thanks!

On Sunday, June 22nd, 10am to 1pm~
We’ll play as a duo at the Windsor Farmer’s Market.

We have two music festivals also coming up in June and July where we’re not hired to play but really look forward to camping and jamming with friends 2 weekends in a row. First on the last weeknd of June we’ll be at the Kate Wolf Memorial Festival where we’re on our friend Alan’s crew. He sets up a beautiful venue for the “Revival stage” with his big festival tents, candle lit chandeliers, beautiful tapasties and rugs. We’re lucky to get to help out with that so we can enjoy the festival every year.

The following weekend we’ll be on another crew helping out at a new festival up in Navarro called the “Redwood Ramble” which was started last year when the Strawberry Festival was canceled due to the fire. This is a very small festival in a beautiful place called Camp Navarro that used to be a boyscout camp right near some property Michael’s parents used to have where we spent many weekends camping out with our family over the years. We’re excited to be a part of a small music festival happening in our old stomping grounds!

We have more farmer’s markets scheduled which I’ll post later.
We hope you’re all enjoying Spring. Hope to see you out enjoying some live music soon!
Be well,
Lindalou and Michael

Spring has sprung again!

Greetings friends and music lovers,
Our Wisteria is in full bloom but our Lilacs are still asleep. Usually they bloom at the same time here. It was an odd Winter though, with not enough rain, but we’re grateful for what we got.

We’ve got some nice gigs coming up. Our last one in February was a big success. We played the 3rd annual benefit house concert in memory of my Dad’s birthday and raised almost $4000 for DCWC’s hospital in Nepal! Thanks to all who came and made that happen. Your generosity is extremely appreciated and will really make a difference.
Thank you also to new folks who signed our mailing list.

On Sunday, April 6th from 1pm to 3pm
We’ll be playing as a duo at the Epicurean Connection in Sonoma.
This is a new venue for us and we’re happy to have been asked to play by Josh Windmiller of North Bay Hootenanny. Thank you to Dale Geist of the Cur-ville Dog Days Fest for making that connection for us.

On Saturday, April 26th from 11am to 2pm
We’ll be playing at Elizabeth Spencer Tasting Room in Rutherford.
They’ve invited us back to play for their annual Rosé Release party for the past 4 years. This is always a fun event with great food and wine. We’ll be accompanied by our fantastic fiddler friend Terry Ann Gillette.

On Saturday, May 3rd from 9am to noon
We’ll be back at our hometown Calistoga Farmer’s Market.
Our old friend and great guitar player Dan Brunetti will join us.

Happy Spring and lets hope for more rain during the week and sunshine on the weekends while we’re playing outside! :~)
We hope to see you somewhere along the way!
Lindalou and Michael

3rd Annual Ken Harris Memorial House Concert!

Dear friends,
In our last post I made a mistake and put the wrong link to the invitation to our March 1st benefit house concert. If you’d like to come to our 3rd annual memorial house concert celebrating my Dad’s birthday and benefiting DCWC , please RSVP to my sister Jeanette at jeanetteg2@gmail.com

Here is a link to the flyer Jeanette made: 2014HouseConcertFlyer

After we sent out our music newsletter last week we discovered that not only did I make a mistake and put the wrong link in the message for you to RSVP through… but there was also a glitch in my email and it seems only about half our mailing list received the message. So I’m sending just the link to it out again.

We hope to see you at Jeanette and Steve’s house on March 1st! We’ll also pay tribute to Pete Seeger whose influence lives on.
In harmony,
Lindalou and Michael

Hi folks,
Is it too late to say Happy New Year? Time sure is flying past and we haven’t been in touch with many of you for way too long. We hope you’re all well.
We’ve had a few challenges in the past year but we’re doing OK here now. It’s been mighty dry though and we’ve been doing a rain dance, hoping Winter might still come before Spring turns to Summer again!

We’re getting ready to play our 3rd annual Memorial DCWC Benefit House Concert in memory of my Dad, Ken Harris. This year it’s on Saturday March 1st, 5pm to 9pm.

Dad would have turned 89 on February 26th. He’d be glad to know we’re still celebrating his birthday and life itself. This will once again be a benefit to raise money for a hospital in Nepal that my sister and brother-in-law have been very involved in supporting. Below is the invitation my sister Jeanette has sent out. Some of you may have already gotten it from her. If not, please open the 2014HouseConcertFlyer for details and RSVP to my sister at jeanetteg2@gmail.com.

Thanks to all of you who have supported this worthy cause in the past! We’re really looking forward to it. We’ve been working on some new songs and dusting off some old favorites.
We hope to see you in Oakland at Jeanette and Steve’s house on March 1st!
Be well,
Lindalou and Michael

Autumn

Hi folks,
We’ve been asked to play for an event at Windsor Vineyards in Healdsburg this coming Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. They’re located on the Healdsburg Town Square at 308 B Center Street. Thanks to who ever recommended us to them!

We’ll be at the Calistoga Farmer’s Market again on Saturday November 2nd from 9am to noon. We’re hoping our good friend Danny Brunetti will accompany us.

We sadly lost our dear friend and great drummer, David Chapman, last month after a brief illness. We were accompanied by him with his great and tasteful percussion for many years and we’re sure missing him. We’ll especially be missing him at the Calistoga Farmer’s Market where he was always there for us. He is missed by our whole Calistoga community where he was well known for his music, all his volunteer work where ever there was a need, his crossing guard job at the elementary school, his tennis playing, his long time sweetheart Gail Gum and his many good friends and family. Rest in Peace David.

His passing reminds us of the importance of friendship and to take the time to enjoy each other and share some music. We hope you’re all well and enjoying every day of Autumn.
In harmony,
Lindalou and Michael

Seeds

This coming Thursday afternoon, Sept 12th between 4pm and 6:45pm we’ve been asked to be roving musicians at the 3rd annual National Heirloom Exposition. We’re not sure where you’ll find us there as we’ll be wandering around making music. This is a really nice event that we enjoyed playing last year as well.

On Sunday, Sept 15th from 10am to 1pm. We’ll play at the Windsor Farmer’s Market

On Saturday, Sept 21st from 9am to noon we’ll be playing the Calistoga Farmer’s market again.

Hope to see you soon!
Love, Lindalou and Michael

More Farmer’s Markets!

We’ll be playing the Calistoga Farmer’s Market again tomorrow morning.
August 10th, 9am to noon
In the shade of the redwood trees beside the river, next to the Calistoga Community Center on Washington Street.
We’ll be accompanied by Dan Brunetti and hopefully our friend Bob Aranguren will sit in on a few songs with his wonderful saxaphone.

After we play there we’ll pack up our gear and head to Sebastopol to play an annual Blackberry picking party that some dear friends of ours put on every year about this time.

Unfortunately the date was moved back a week from last year and another wonderful event we’ve played the past few years, had the date moved forward a week… so we can’t play both events this year. We would encourage you all to go to the downhome annual Cur-Ville Music Festival in Kenwood on Saturday August 10th. There will be great music all afternoon and into the evening. We might even show up late and jam with friends around the campfire, if we still feel like playing after playing all day!

We’re looking forward to camping with friends and family at the Strawberry Music Fest over Labor Day weekend!

On Sunday Sept 15th we’ll be at the Windsor Farmer’s Market and on Saturday September 21st we’ll be back at the Calistoga Farmer’s market again.

We hope you’ve all been enjoying the summer and we’d love to see you and your friends out enjoying our music. Also please keep us in mind if you or anyone you know would like some live music for any occasion!
Thanks,
Lindalou and Michael

Last minute Porch Fest gig

Hi Folks,
We were asked at the very last minute to fill in for our dear friend Michael McNevin at a Porch concert tonight in Napa. We’re sorry he can’t make it due to unforeseen circumstances but glad we were able to change our plans and be there for him. I have attached the original flyer for the event. We’re going to do our best to be almost as good as the award winning singer/songwriter Michael McNevin. We’ll play a set of our songs and then there will be a jam afterwards, so bring your musical instruments and voices if you’d like to participate! Hope to see you there!

This is a potluck starting at 7pm tonight July 28th at Rod and Cindy’s house: 2076 Coombsville Rd. Napa.
Call Cindy for more info at 707-226-5859

We’re heading to Napa now to enjoy the festivities of Porch Fest where several of our friends are playing today!
In Harmony,
Lindalou and Michael

P.S. We’ll be playing at the Calistoga Farmer’s Market again on August 10th.

Summer music

Happy 4th of July!
We’re playing a private party tonight at our 97 year old friend Catherine’s house where we’ll have a great veiw of the Calistoga fireworks. The lightening display looking west from our house last night was as spectacular as (and more scary) than any fireworks display. Hopefully no serious damage was caused by fires. It sure has been hot and windy.

We spent last weekend at the wonderful Kate Wolf Music festival camping and jamming with good friends in the heat. Great music all weekend and relief from the heat by swimming in the river.

Michael’s arm is healing up and he’s been playing his guitar again and trying not to over do it.
We’ve been asked at the last minute to play the Calistoga Farmer’s Market this coming Saturday due to a cancellation. We were already scheduled to play the following Saturday. This coming Saturday also happens to be the Dalai Lama’s birthday…so we’ll sing him a birthday song!

Here are the dates we have coming up:
July 6th -9am to noon
Calistoga Farmer’s Market

July 13th -9am to noon
Calistoga Farmer’s Market

August 10th -9am to noon
Calistoga Farmer’s Market
Then we’ll pack up the PA and drive to Sebastopol where we’ll set up the sound system again at 2pm to play a private Blackberry picking party put on annually by some dear friends.
We’ll have to miss the wonderful Cur-Ville Fest in Kenwood this year where several of our good friends will be playing! Boohoo! We just can’t be in two places at once or play three gigs in one day much as we love to play!

We have several other private parties and my neices wedding to play this summer but we’re always happy to be invited to play and hope the dates work out.
We hope you’re all keeping cool and enjoying the summer. Come by and see us at the farmer’s markets if you get a chance!
Love, Lindalou and Michael

Saturday, June 1st, Calistoga Farmer’s Market 9am to noon~

Michael had a slight accident last week and hurt his arm so he can’t play his guitar for a few weeks… fortunately it wasn’t a much worse injury! We’re happy to say we’ll be accompanied at the farmer’s market by our dear friend, extraordinary guitar player, singer/songwriter Hank Levine. He’ll play a set of his own and play guitar for us while Michael’s arm is in a sling! At least Michael can still sing! We’ll also have our friends Dan Brunetti and David Chapman joining us and hopefully our new friend Bob Aranguren will accompany us with his excellent Saxophone playing. Hope to see you there!
